Man killed in monkey attack

A 40-year-old man, Sammayya, a resident of Ghanpur in Warangal district died from injuries suffered in an attack by a troop of monkeys on Saturday.

HYDERABAD: A 40-year-old man, Sammayya, a resident of Ghanpur in Warangal district died from injuries suffered in an attack by a troop of monkeys on Saturday.
He succumbed to his injuries at the local hospital where he was taken to by some of the locals who managed to ward off the marauding monkeys.
Telangana government only recently announced that it was releasing Rs 55 lakh to trap monkeys that have made human habitations their home and release them in forests.

Thousands of monkeys roam villages and towns in the state terrorizing people by attacking them or by snatching away food from them or after entering their homes. At least 1,000 such Rhesus Macaques are also found in pockets of Hyderabad.
